Sustainability

Dows Jones/FTSE logosSince its creation more than 100 years ago, SKF has considered sustainability a critical aspect of its business and manufacturing structure.  As one of the first companies to publish a separate environmental report (1994), SKF was also one of the first international companies to receive a worldwide certification to the environmental standard ISO 14001, covering all its manufacturing units, logistics services, engineering and technical centers.

SKF’s continual drive for sustainable development has been accentuated by the awards and external recognition it receives each year. In 2006, SKF was selected for the seventh consecutive year as a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes. SKF is ranked as one of the industry leaders on all three dimensions evaluated: economic, environment and social.

In addition, SKF was selected in 2006 for inclusion in the FTSE4Good Index Series (six years running) for its achievements in the field of Corporate Social Responsibilities.

As the world has become more focused on reducing energy consumption and limiting environmental impact, SKF knowledge is playing an increasingly critical role in the development of energy efficient products for every major sector, from automotive and aerospace to industrial operations and household appliances.
